A butterfly is symbolic of change, hope and life. While there may be a lot to be grateful for in this life that we’re given, there are a lot of things wrong with this world. Every inconvenience that happened in the world, every war, dispute, every death, shooting… Every crime, Stav took into her heart. With a strong desire to change the world, Stav felt that it was her duty to change the world, as it seemed like no one would do it, unless she did it herself. And every time there was violence, Stav felt she was failing to save the world. She took every mass shooting, deadly disease, terrorist attack, as a bullet in her own heart. Stav hated violence more than anything, especially guns. In her senior year of high school, Stav organized a protest against gun laws after a mass shooting that occurred in Florida, which ignited a giant flame in her heart. To my surprise, her protest was a success, as she was able to have almost every student participate. I participated myself, but found it hard to believe that she did all of it on her own, I guess I was wrong. Now let this butterfly symbolize the hope that Stav had for the world to change. Overtime, guns and violence kept shooting these holes through her wings, until she was no longer able to fly. She found out it was too difficult to change the world on her own, and with this lost hope and broken wings, she believed that she was no longer strong enough to make this change. No one had the desire like she thought she had, and she was upset that the world was so blind to let these tragedies keep happening. It would be so simple to change a couple laws, but these changes never happened. The butterfly no longer flies, and all hope for change has died with it.
